Training with FDS
We meet for regular training four times a week! We have pool, land, and water trainings to help keep the team healthy and fit for racing day. Attending our trainings will improve your muscle endurance and stamina. It’s also a fun way to get to know your own teammates. However, before you can join our regular training, we would require you to complete the newbie training sessions first.
Pool Training (PT)
Pool Training is held every Tuesday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Geylang East Swimming Complex. It is a short walk from Paya Lebar MRT. Paddlers are encouraged to attend PT to improve their stroke and to build muscle endurance.
Land Training (LT)
Land Training is held every Thursday from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Kallang Riverside Park. It is a short walk from Kallang MRT. Paddlers are encouraged to attend LT to improve their muscle endurance and build stamina. Our training committee facilitates circuit training, various drills, and weightlifting. Bring a towel!
Water Training (WT)
Water Training involves paddling on our boats every weekend. It is held Saturdays from 2:30 PM to 6:00 PM and Sundays at 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM. This is where the team practices on the river! An intensive program is prepared by our training committee and our coach which involves drills and simulations.
Tip! Our team uses Facebook to create training session invites. Members are encouraged to “Click Going” when the training invites are sent. Important announcements such as cancellations due to inclement weather are made via event invites.
